International Center for Watercolor Artist Inspiration Series
Artist/Instructor: Jennifer Koury
One season workshop: $48 BPAC member/$58 BPAC not-yet member
Participants will create a watercolor painting of the area Aspiration and the hill above it with detailed angels and obelisks at Forest Lawn in its current seasonal landscape; winter, spring, summer, and fall. Instructor will provide guidance and encourage individual's styles for personal watercolor interpretations of each corresponding season. Included is a short demo on value sketches and focal points. Participants may attend one or all of the four season plein air painting sessions at Forest Lawn and its surrounding landscape. Colder paint outs will start outside and move inside to finish the painting.
An exhibition to celebrate Forest Lawn's Four Seasons participant's paintings will be displayed at the Margaret L. Wendt Visitor's Center at the culmination of all four sessions.
Jennifer Koury, a watercolorist, delights in both the natural world's play of light and color on forms, and watercolor's whimsical properties: color bleeding, reticulation and natural paint sediments. Koury has enjoyed a rewarding career as a dedicated painter and freelance illustrator. She is published in both children's and adult based books. Her work is featured at George Washington's Mount Vernon and Yuma Regional Medical Center, Arizona. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in Painting and Printmaking, Koury continued her studies to graduate from the Art Center College of Design, California. She resides with her family in Buffalo and is inspired by the natural beauty of Western New York.
