The Small Format workshop is designed for the experienced watercolorist. Work will be created on small pieces (eighths or sixteenths of full sheet) of Arches 140 pound cold press paper. Each artwork will have a limited palette of a triad (3 pigments) plus one (one other pigment used to emphasize a dominant element).
Supply List:
Winsor Newton Artist Colors.
Suggested triads:
1. Winsor Blue Red Shade, Winsor Yellow, Permanent Rose.
2. Cerulean Blue, Brown Madder, Raw Siena.
3. Cobalt Blue, Permanent Rose, Winsor Yellow.
4. French Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Siena, Raw Siena. I prefer Winsor Newton Artist Colors.
Bring a sheet of Arches watercolor paper.
Artists will also need to bring their favorite round brushes, a good natural sponge for wetting the paper, note book, photo resources as inspirations, water containers, paper towels, all their usual equipment.
Class will critique progress during the lunch break in the studio. Participants should expect to complete 4 plus small paintings.
